The Catholic church in Iligan City does not support the proposed divorce bill that is being pushed by the party-list Gabriela Women’s Party.
Monsingor Jemar Vera Cruz, vicar general of the Diocese of Iligan, explains that it is the belief of the church that the separation of man and wife is against the word of God.
He adds that divorce greatly affects the children of the marriage union, and as such must be prevented because it presents no positive outcome.
Vera Cruz believes that marriage is a sacred vow between a man and a woman to remain together for the rest of their lives.
